After the State of the City address Tuesday evening, Reno officials gathered at Brasserie Saint James to celebrate the growth of the biggest little city and debut the new “Craft Breweries of Reno Tahoe” map.
At Brasserie, the head brewer Bryan Holloway told us how the craft brewery scene has been blowing up in the area. He said they’ve “been seeing growth… as well as other breweries in the area.”It's no secret, the craft beer is flowing in the biggest little city. And now, there's a map for that.
The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, in partnership with the City of Reno and the Nevada Brewer’s Association, debuted their new beer map tonight. While they say we're not quite up to the number of craft breweries California has to offer, we're certainly growing and interest from visitors has been piqued. Holloway continued to tell us that people often come in asking for maps of other breweries and they often have to “hand draw maps for people” so he is glad to finally have a map that they can hand out, uniting all of the breweries in the area.
There are about fifteen local breweries featured on the map, plus five local distilleries and another dozen or so in the surrounding areas from Lake Tahoe out to Fallon. Ben McDonald, the Communications Manager with RSCVA, told us he think sit will help people tourists coming to the city “see what’s going on with our local food scene” as well because many of these breweries are also restaurants.
If you'd like to check out the map for yourself, they will be distributed all over town. You can find them at the visitor's center in downtown Reno or you can pick one up at your favorite local brewery.
